This onboarding checklist will take you through an onboarding checklist to help you understand the basics of Clay.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to:

  • Connect your CRM
  • Export data to your sequencer
  • Create a table
  • Run an enrichment
  • Run a waterfall

Connect your first CRM

Connecting your CRM to Clay is core step to getting the most out Clay because this is where you build your strong data foundation for GTM workflows.

What you’ll need

CRM account with read-write permissions.

How to connect your CRM

To connect your CRM:

  1. Select Create new in the top-right of your workspace homepage.
  2. Choose to create a Table .
  3. Choose the CRM you want to connect and select its action.
  4. Log into your CRM provider account.
  5. Filter the objects you want to import.
  6. Select Continue and add to New blank table.

Create your first table

To create your first table:

  1. Select Create new in the top right of your workspace homepage.
  2. Choose to create a Table .
  3. Specify the source of your table.
  4. You can choose to add the source to an existing or new table. For now import into a new table.

Connect your first sequencer

Connect Clay to your sequencer to send automated, personalized outbound campaigns across email, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Data to send to your sequencer, sequencer with predefined fields to export (if required)

How to connect your sequencer

To connect your sequencer:

  1. Open the Clay table with the fields you want to export.
  2. In the top right corner of your table, select Actions and Export.
  3. Choose Export messages to sequencer.
  4. Define the messages you want to export and select Continue.
  5. Refer to specific sequencer instructions in the resources below.
  6. Specify the campaign you want to export the fields.
  7. Add any other fields you would like to push from your table.
  8. Save and run your export.

Create your first enrichment

Follow these steps to create your first enrichment:

  1. Open the table containing the fields you want to enrich.
  2. In the top-right corner of the table, select Add Enrichment.
  3. Select the enrichment type and fill in the required inputs.
  4. Save and run your enrichment.

Create your first waterfall

Waterfalls allow you to configure multiple data providers sequentially, maximizing enrichment coverage for your endpoints.

To run your first waterfall:

  1. Open the table containing the fields you want to enrich.
  2. In the top-right corner of the table, click Add Enrichment.
  3. In the enrichment panel, select the endpoint for the waterfall.
  4. Configure your data providers and input the required details for each step in the waterfall.
  5. Save and run your enrichment.
