Find growth signals like funding rounds and new hires, then let AI turn them into natural, one-line openers for outbound.
Clay (Free): to find news and job openings in PredictLeads and tailor icebreakers with AI
Starting a cold email or call is hard when you don’t have a clear reason to reach out. This Claybook uses PredictLeads to pull recent company news and job openings for every account on your list. Think funding rounds, mergers, acquisitions, or hiring activity—signals that show change and momentum.
Clay then uses AI to turn those signals into short, natural icebreakers you can drop into outbound emails or call prep. Instead of generic openers, you’ll have timely, relevant talking points that show you’ve done your research and make prospects more likely to respond.
How it works
First, copy this template in Clay.
If you’re already a user, you’ll be directed to your workspace. If not, you’ll be prompted to create a free Clay account.
The interactive demos on the right will walk you through each step of this Claybook.
Before uploading a list of company domains to pull recent news and job openings—and then use AI to draft an outbound message—start by defining your company’s use case. This description will guide the AI in writing stronger, more relevant icebreaker messages for prospects who are actively hiring (later step).
The icebreaker prompt in the last column helps you generate one-sentence, personalized icebreakers for outreach. It works by combining company-specific signals (i.e. recent news or job postings) with your company’s use case.
The result? The AI avoids generic fluff and instead produces relevant, natural-sounding openers that show you’ve done your homework.
This step is optional. The prompt will already pick up on your use case and tailor it to your company. But if you want to adjust the prompt to fit your needs better, do it now.
Next, select all the PredictLeads news categories relevant to your business. The accompanying ChatGPT prompt will automatically find the most relevant news events based on your use case.
Next, input the domain column into the PredictLeads job finder if it’s not already input. Like in the previous step, the accompanying ChatGPT prompt will parse these openings for the most relevant jobs to your use case.
Last, input your company domains in column one, then let the table run. You can input them manually (one by one), via CSV in bulk, or by using Clay’s Find Companies feature.
In seconds, the table will produce hyper-relevant outbound ice breaker messages.
