Before we begin

Your best champions don’t stay put. If you’re not tracking where they go, you’re missing out on pipeline.

For example, when a customer champion changes jobs, two things happen: you risk losing influence at the account they’re leaving and miss a golden opportunity to land with them at their new company. Most teams only notice after it’s too late.

This Claybook helps you stay ahead by automatically monitoring your customer champions and flagging when they land somewhere new so you can protect existing revenue and create warm leads with people who already know your value.

How it works: 

  • Import your current customer champions into a Clay from your CRM
  • Use the “Monitor for Job Changes” action to track their moves
  • Automatically capture new company, old company, and start date
  • Enrich job movers with work emails and their LinkedIn profile URLs
  • Reach out with context and timing on your side

Step 1:

Copy this template

First, copy this template in Clay. 

If you’re already a user, you’ll be directed to your workspace. If not, you’ll be prompted to create a free Clay account.

Step 2:

Import champions from your CRM

Import champions from your CRM. This template example uses Hubspot, but for those that don't use Hubspot, you can import customers from any CRM using one of Clay’s native CRM integrations or via HTTP API. Once champions get imported to the table, the workflow will start and Clay will automatically find their LinkedIn profile URLs.

Step 3:

Find champions who have recently changed jobs

Next, use the “Monitor for job changes” action to track when current champions move jobs (and where they go). You can track champions who moved jobs in the last 3, 6, or 12 months, and you can schedule the table to update daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Clay will automatically find job movers, their new company name and domain, their LinkedIn profile URLs, and their work emails.

Step 4:

Act on job mover signals

From here, you can customize the table any way you want: Update your CRM with new companies and contacts, stack additional signals to qualify your job movers new company, send Slack alerts to AEs, and much more. 

For example, in our table, we look up our job mover in the CRM, update their record with their new company, or create a new company if it doesn’t exist.
