Overview: AI Research & Writing

Author
Yash Tekriwal

AI is all the rage these days. It seems like there’s a new “AI SDR” tool to try every day.

Clay’s philosophy on AI is twofold:

  1. AI is only as good as your data foundation (garbage data in, garbage AI results)
  2. AI still needs nuanced prompting and distinction to truly output valuable results

If you’ve tried ChatGPT, Gemini, or one of the other big AI tools out there - you’re familiar with the art of prompting. One key difference about prompting within the context of Clay, is that you’re prompting at scale, vs. prompting in chat.

That means that your prompt design has to be specific and nuanced to work over thousands of rows, rather than something you can go back and forth with a chatbot on for a single result. We’ll cover more on AI prompting paradigms in the next video.

For now, just know that there are two ways you can use AI in Clay:

1. Use AI (ChatGPT)

2. Claygent (An AI Agent with Access to the Web)

Let’s dive into when to use ChatGPT vs. Claygent next.
