There are two ways you can utilize AI in your Clay Tables:
Use AI (ChatGPT)
Claygent (AI Web Scraper)
As a broad principle, you should use Claygent when:
Use AI (ChatGPT) is better when you have more discrete tasks that are operating on fixed data. The most common example of this is for copywriting.
For example, let’s say you want to personalize your outreach to a potential prospect based on the company business model (B2B vs. B2C). You would first use Claygent to determine is the company is B2B or B2C, and give it an open-ended prompt with some guardrails
**code text**
are column variables):Company Name
, and figure out if Company Name
sells to businesses (B2B) or consumers (B2C).Company Name
’s website - Domain
, and LinkedIn Profile - Company LinkedIn Profile
to see if you can find the result.Once you have that data, you might choose Use AI (ChatGPT) to help you write an AI snippet for your personalized email, example below:
**code text**
are column variables):Full Name
who is the Job Title
at Company Name
.Full Name
likely works with Customer Categories
. Come up with three creative ideas for Full Name
to do their job as Job Title
.When thinking about how to choose using Claygent vs. Use AI, there are three broad differences between the two:
Use AI (ChatGPT)Claygent (AI Web Scraper)Fixed CostVariable CostAccess to Fixed DatasetAccess to InternetSingle StepMulti-Step
Use AI is most similar to the way you may have interacted with ChatGPT. You’re writing a message that you’re going to send to ChatGPT and you’re going to get a response. The costs are fixed because we only ever send your first prompt to the API and then return the corresponding result.
With Claygent, we’ve added a few extra capabilities. Claygent will take your initial prompt, understand the goal, and then create a plan of how to accomplish that goal. That plan might take multiple steps to accomplish, and as a result, might make multiple subsequent calls to an API, which is why your cost might vary.
Claygent has access to the internet, and can return data in real-time at the moment that you run it. Use AI is limited to the dataset that ChatGPT was trained on (Data up until April 2023), meaning that any information you might want from after April 2023 is unavailable.
As we stated above - because Claygent will take your initial prompt and then create a plan and goals, that means that it can process tasks with multiple steps particularly well. This is also a great tip for Claygent prompt design - be explicit about the multiple steps if you want it to take several.
